Lake Placid Olympic Center Named Home of Cosmic Hockey’s First-Ever Preseason Training Camp

Cosmic Hockey To Hold Preseason Training Camp in 1980 Herb Brooks Arena

Hockey’s newest and first-ever entertainment-focused barnstorming property – Cosmic Hockey – has signed a deal with the Lake Placid Olympic Center to hold its two-week preseason training camp at the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena on October 26-November 6 in preparation for its upcoming 2027 season.

Composed of talented, creative and entertaining men and women hockey players from various professional leagues around the world and colleges, two teams of 20 players will come together to merge hockey’s speed, skill and creativity with state-of-the-art black light technology. The 40 players chosen from tryouts will train in Lake Placid for two weeks to prepare and learn about the 2027 barnstorming season beginning in January. Tryouts for players will be held at two NHL training centers: Boston’s Warrior Ice Arena on August 1, and Buffalo’s LECOM Harborcenter on August 8, 2026.

Home of the historic 1980 “Miracle on Ice,” the Lake Placid Olympic Center remains one of North America’s premier hockey destinations, annually hosting national championships, collegiate tournaments, youth events, elite training camps and international competition.

We could not be happier they’ve chosen Lake Placid to be their inaugural training camp home.”

With great vision, Cosmic Hockey will deliver the most fan-focused, entertaining and immersive property in sports. Cosmic Hockey has been in discussions with more than a dozen North American venues and will launch its inaugural tour in Toledo, Ohio on January 2027.

Cosmic Hockey is the sibling to Cosmic Baseball, which began in 2024 and has since seen success during its inaugural national Cosmic Takeover Tour in 2025 with a 30-city tour, 74 sell-outs and more than 750,000 tickets sold.
