Olympic Center Sales Supervisor

Full-Time | Year-Round

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is seeking a motivated, outgoing, and detail-oriented Sales Supervisor to work at the Olympic Center in beautiful downtown Lake Placid.  The successful candidate will report to the Olympic Center’s Business Manager and will be responsible and accountable for managing the Olympic Center’s daily sales and ticketing system as well as supporting overall guest services as the resort. This is a full-time year-round position.

Located in the Lake Placid, New York and managed by the Olympic Regional Development Authority, the Olympic Center is home to the famed Miracle on Ice as well as the historic speed-skating oval where Eric Heiden won five Olympic gold medals in 1980. Today, the Olympic Center is home to the 1932 Jack Shea Arena, 1980 Herb Brooks Arena, USA Practice Rink, James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval, the Conference Center at Lake Placid, as well as the newly modernized Lake Placid Olympic Museum.

Work is performed on-site at the Olympic Center. Occasional weekend and Holiday work will be required as will work outside the normal workday as is necessary to fulfill obligations. Occasional travel may be required.

Essential Duties (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Performing timely and accurate opening and closing procedures which includes verifying deposits and counting the safe and cash banks;
  • Executing the Olympic Center’s Internal Control procedures and recommending changes to improve accountability and efficiency;
  • Running accurate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports needed for the venue;
  • Regularly informing guest services staff of upcoming events, specials, sales, and other announcements relevant to the guest experience;
  • Managing credit card dispute resolution;
  • Keeping guest services/ticketing staff updated on pre-sold reservations and daily business expectations;
  • Performing back-up support for all guest services staff as needed;
  • Effectively implementing training processes for guest services/ticketing staff
  • Scheduling and managing guest services/ticketing staff;
  • Ensuring that the pick up boxes are functioning properly and set for each day of operations;
  • Regularly meeting with guest services staff to discuss necessary safety policies, procedures, and related topics;
  • Managing the Olympic Center’s waiver program and following up with guests as appropriate;
  • Implementing a customer service plan for guest services and assuring staff adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:The successful candidate must have practical, demonstrated experience in sales, staff management, and basic accounting methods as well as excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to stay calm and diffuse guest issues in a rational proactive manner. Must also have a minimum of one year’s supervisory experience in the customer service field along with flexibility and a positive attitude. A professional appearance and manner as well as strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Outlook is required.

Other Considerations: The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong computer and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once. Post-secondary degree in Business Management or related field is preferred.  Knowledge of Siriusware or similar platform is a plus. Will train the right candidate

Compensation and Benefits: This position is classified as a Grade 19 Department Supervisor 1 on the Olympic Authority’s Hourly Compensation Schedule, which carries an Entry Rate of $29.12 per hour. THIRD SHIFT SUPERVISOR

The newly modernized Olympic Center, located in beautiful downtown Lake placid, is seeking an independent leader to act as its Third Shift Supervisor. The ideal candidate is a working supervisor that provides and oversees building security and basic facility upkeep and maintenance. Responsibilities include performing building and property sweeps; cleaning and maintenance; providing status reports; conducting shift change meetings; and reporting emergency situations to appropriate personnel.  Work will involve using a variety of handheld and portable power tools as well as operating self-propelled and non-self-propelled machinery

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year supervising maintenance crews or two years’ experience in the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities at the journeyman level. Appropriate education may be substituted for up to half the operating experience.

COMPENSATION:  Entry rate of $25.05/hr. CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

The newly modernized Olympic Center, located in beautiful downtown Lake placid, is seeking a customer service representative to greet and assist guests. The ideal candidate will provide Olympic Center guests with outstanding customer service by ascertaining what each customer wants or needs and following up as appropriate.  This includes greeting guests, educating guests about the Olympic Center and its offerings, selling tickets, and answering questions.  Customer Service Representatives will also perform minor cleaning and upkeep to make sure the greeting area is professional, organized, and presentable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS –   Must be able to follow instructions and make decisions within basic policy and procedures. Candidates should be self-motivated, able to perform basic arithmetic functions, willing to greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner, practice excellent customer service, and be able to lift 20-30 lbs. Applicants should have strong communication skills and approachability. Previous retail experience is preferable, but not necessary. Knowledge of the Lake Placid Olympic venues is a plus.

MEDICAL SUPPORT PERSONNEL

PER-DIEM | PART-TIME

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is in need of a qualified professional to provide medical support at the newly modernized Olympic Center in Lake Placid.  The successful candidate will respond to emergency situations, observe and report unsafe conditions, and provide information as well as assistance to the general public.  Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have current certifications in CPR for professional rescuer and one of the following: New York State or National Registry EMT-B or above, Outdoor Emergency Care, Wilderness First Responder. Applicants should provide letters of recommendation and references.

WAGE: Entry rate range of $20.00/hr to $29.12/hr depending on skills, qualifications, and experience.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES – ORDA STORE, LAKE PLACID

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is seeking customer service orientated individuals to work in the ORDA store located in beautiful downtown Lake Placid. Successful candidates will perform tasks including, but not limited to: greeting customers and ascertaining what each customer wants or needs, opening and closing cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money; separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers; balancing cash drawers; making deposits; stocking the sales floor; as well as straightening and cleaning the store.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to follow instructions and make decisions within basic policy and procedures. CLEANERS

Cleaners’ duties are janitorial in nature (sweeping, mopping, general cleaning, disinfecting, etc.) Successful candidates will also perform other labor-oriented duties as assigned. Nights, weekends and holiday work will be required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and physically able to perform manual labor including lifting up to 100 lbs. Staff required to work evening/night shifts and/or holidays receive premium pay.

COMPENSATION: Entry rate of $15.93 – $17.21 depending on skills, qualifications, and experience. MAINTENANCE ASSISTANTS / EQUIPMENT OPERATORS

Maintenance Assistant/Equipment Operators are responsible for operating a variety of self-propelled equipment as well as construction, operations, repair, and maintenance of equipment. Under the direction of the Olympic Center General Manager, successful candidates will perform a variety of jobs including minor laboring tasks, general maintenance, as well as operation of heavy equipment. In addition to operating a Zamboni, the successful candidate may operate front-end loaders, road-graders, tractor mowers, and snowplows. Nights, weekends and holiday work will be required. Applicants should have at least one year’s experience related to the above and possession of a valid/clean New York State Driver’s License appropriate for the type of vehicle operated. Maintenance Assistants/Equipment Operators are classified as a Grade 13 on the ORDA/CSEA schedule with an entry rate of $18.55 per hour, plus benefits as defined under the CSEA contract. Premium pay for evening/night work as well as work on holidays.

SEASONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is in search for seasonal photographers for its Photo Concessions booth. Job duties will include capturing high quality and compelling photographs for various events. All equipment will be provided. Projected work schedule of 30-40 hours a week and will include weekends and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must be dependable and be able to carefully select, set up, and operate manual cameras and equipment for varied conditions. Must have experience with action sport photography.

COMPENSATION: Entry rate of $20.00/hr to $25.05/hr depending on skills, qualifications, and experience.

PHOTO CONCESSIONS SALES CLERKS

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is in search for seasonal salesclerks for its Photo Concessions booth. Job duties will include helping the customer locate/edit their photos and processing payments. Further responsibilities would be to print photos.  All equipment and training will be provided. Projected work schedule of 30-40 hours a week and will include weekends and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must be dependable and have excellent customer service skills.  In addition, this person must be able to perform essential arithmetic functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and have basic computer skills.
