Activities on the Oval

Come celebrate and observe the April 8th Solar Eclipse at the Lake Placid Legacy Sites and Glow for the Gold.  There will be free viewing locations complete with music, free eclipse sunglasses, and fun at the James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval.

Complimentary safety eclipse glasses will be provided as supplies last.

Remember: Looking directly at the eclipse without proper eye protection is never safe. Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the Sun.

Viewing any part of the bright Sun through a camera lens, binoculars, or a telescope without a special-purpose solar filter secured over the front of the optics will instantly cause severe eye injury.
